About

My work aims to capture a moment in time, a feeling or an emotion that a woman may experience while on her life’s journey. Looking through the history of my work, it is clear that my paintings have a direct relationship to where I am in my life and how I feel about the world. This has always been conveyed primarily with the expression in the eyes of my subjects. These “windows to the soul” have always resonated very strongly with me and have acted as a profound tool of communication within my work.

I started painting over 20 years ago at the age of fifteen and it is evident that during this introduction to art, I used this medium to express my frustrations and feelings of uncertainty about the world. As I grew and developed, my artwork reflected love and heartbreak, despair and joy. With periods of darkness and light, my paintings grew in intensity and purpose and I began to find it easier to channel this energy and convey my message more effectively.

Now in my mid-thirties, a happily married woman and mother finally comfortable in her own skin, my work carries a deep sense of strength and happiness. Living in the beautiful country town of Daylesford in regional Victoria, surrounded by lakes, lavender farms, natural springs and a supportive artist community has translated into paintings representing abundance, gratitude and a sense of arrival to the place I have been trying to get to my entire life.

I pride myself on creating oil paintings that are honest and striking, a raw representation of life’s experiences that women can identify with and enjoy. I am looking forward to continuing to grow as a person, and therefore as an artist, and am grateful for the opportunity to be able to express myself in this way.

Commissioned Paintings

In the past few years I have received an increasing number of requests for commissioned paintings as people really know what they want and love to have something created especially for them. I enjoy this kind of work and love seeing the expression on people’s face when they see the finished painting in the flesh. Here are a couple of testimonials from recent clients.

Testimonials: Commissioned Paintings

Jodie thank you from the bottom of my heart for my new painting!

I first purchased one of your works ‘the smoking girl’ from the Farmer’s Arms the year my dad passed away. I really wanted something happy and forward looking to go on the wall next to her.

I can’t thank you enough for the time & effort you put in to making my new painting perfect – even though I had trouble expressing what I really wanted you seemed to know exactly what I needed!

Bernie Wise.

Dear Jodie,

I just wanted to drop by and say thank you so much for the wonderful gift you created for me by capturing my wife and son in the commission piece.

We love the painting we bought from you last year and I felt sure you would convey the same depth of feeling in our commission as you do in all your work, you didn’t disappoint.

For anyone considering a commission of someone special I can honestly say Jodie makes it a very easy process, she is a great listener and takes the time to understand you, your life and your expectations.

Thank you once again, we will travel home with it safely and it will become a vibrant part of our home.

Sincerely,
Darren Pollock
